Super Mario

Today I browsed on YouTube and found one very interesting video. To me it is something very sweet, for you it may be very new, or very old.

The video shows a Japanese man playing the violin. The music is Super Mario game background music. It is a very old game. I remember I used to play it when I was as old as you. Back in the days the computer games were rather simple, but to us, at that time, it was very very entertaining!

I would like to share this with you here and hope you can get a glimpse on our "ancient" computer games. :)

Music Appreciation

Hi all,

Last weekend I browsed videos on YouTube and found some really nice music by an octet. An octet means a music ensemble consisting of 8 instruments; here, this group consists of 8 men and they use only their voice for music. In that case, we can also call it A cappella which means singing without any musical instruments at all.

The song I'd like to share is "Lion King Medley". I chose this because I think most of you like cartoons (so do I, actually) and I think this was a good medley. The blackout and the cheers at the beginning may make it difficult to listen to the song, but I invite you to be patient because they sang it really well!

Enjoy! :)

If you just smile :)

Hello!

How are you? Exam is coming and I hope everyone of you are preparing for it. Some of you may feel a bit tired and nervous about exams because you all care about it so much. Sometimes you may forget to smile.

I found this lovely song by Westlife called "Smile". I would like to share this song with you here and hope you can wear a smile. Believe me, a good smile can cheer you up and make you a lot happier! :)

"Smile"

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

3E Tells You a Story

This morning, students from 3E shared a story called "The Honest Woodcutter" with everyone. I helped them write the script and they practiced very hard for the storytelling. They only had one week to prepare and, to my surprise, they could recite their lines! Well done 3E!

Here are the storytellers:

Let's Save the Whales!!!

Hello all!

Today when I watched the National Geographic Channel, I saw a very meaningful and interesting TVC about saving the whales.

I was very curious so I searched the website and found this:
http://www.tailsforwhales.org/

The idea behind is that if you take a photo with your hands gesturing like the tail of whale and upload the photo to their website. Together they collect the people's collective power and force governments to stop hunting whales at all.

Do you know what whales are endangered species? There aren't many whales left in the ocean. :( How sad it is! And in Japan, people still hunt whales, kill them just because they want to eat their meat!

Please help and save the whales. If you want to help, come and find me. I will take a picture of you and post your photo, together with your name, class and message to my other blog: http://ilovemissnickiewhales.blogspot.com/

Multi-intelligence -- English Chef

As you know, I teach only P.2-4. So I don't really know a lot of P.1 students. But every Friday I have a chance to teach them and play with them because I have a multi-intelligence lesson with them in the afternoon.I am happy that they all like me, and the food, very much!
